Where is Wismer?
Wismer is in north-central Markham. It is bounded by 16th Avenue to the south, McCowan Road to the west, Major Mackenzie Drive to the north and Markham Road to the east. Raymerville sits to the south, and Greensborough lies across Markham Road to the east.
The name honours the Wismer family, who came from Pennsylvania and settled here in 1806. The family later donated land to the community, including the site of the area's first school.
